    The battles of Lexington and Concord took place on April 19, 1775. These battle were the first military battles to the beginning of the revolutionary war

    On June 17, 1775 British forces reached the Charlestown Peninsula and marched to Breed's hill. The British attacked Americans and won the battle.

    On August 27, 1776 the battle of Long Island took place. British gained victory, and it was a defeat for the continental army who was under General George Washington.

    The battle of Trenton took place on Decemeber 26, 1776. After General Washington crossed the Delaware river he had the continental army and the Hessian soldiers of Trenton participate in a brief battle.

    The battles of Saratoga took place on two dates, Septemeber 19, and October 7, 1777. The first battle the British gained victory and the second the Americans were victorious.

    1777-1778 Americans suffer a brutal winter at Valley Forge. They faced disease, starvation and malnutrition which led to 2,500 by the end of February.

    On June 18, 1778 the British evacuated Philadelpha which at the time was the US capital. US General Benedict Arnold had reclaimed the city and was appointed governor which led to the evacuation of the British.
