The plan was to overthrow Fidel Castro out of the government. They would send about 1,300 to 1,500 soldiers to sneak up on Castro and his men.

During this summer the flow of weapons from the Soviet Union to Cuba dramatically increased. Kennedy responded by warning that America would not tolerate nuclear offense from Cuba. This put the U.S and the Soviet Union farther apart.

The U.S was certain that the missiles and the materials were from the Soviet Union. The real beginning of the crises can be traced back to turkey, when the U.S placed missiles in turkey that could hit many of the major populated places in Russia. The world was on the break of a nuclear war.

    On October 24th, 1962, Kennedy implemented a naval “quarantine” of Cuba, blocking Soviet ships from reaching the island. Because the US made plans to quarantine Cuba and attack any Soviet ships that tried to come near, the Soviets soon backed off and Krushchev offered to remove the missiles in return for an American pledge not to invade Cuba. The US also secretly agreed to remove missiles from Turkey. The leaders agreed, and the crisis ended.
