    Palace of Minos at Knossos

    Palace of Minos at Knossos
The Palace of Minos at Knossos is Greece largest and most important archaeological site. It amazes me the intricacy and beautiful designs as well as the archaeological advances they were able to perform to build this palace. Especially at the time when the palace was built

    Greek Drama (Greek Theater)

    Greek Drama (Greek Theater)
Theatrical performances in Athens were held every year at a theatrical festival devoted to the God Dionysus at the Theatre of Dionysus. It addresses the dynamic relationship between the individual, the community, and the gods. Like the Epic of Gilgamesh, this era of Greek drama dives into the beauty of story telling. Sure the performances of the actors were visually pleasing. But, the beauty lies in the depth of storytelling. In an era where it is not so familiar.
  • 480 BCE

    Siddhartha Gautama

    Siddhartha Gautama
Siddhartha Gautama is one the first example in this presentation about the beauty of belief. He is also known as the Buddha. He is arguably if not fully responsible for creating Buddhism. One of the four great religions. His beauty comes in the form of belief, enlightenment, and following. Buddha and his beliefs are the reason why millions of people are trying to find the way to live an enlightened life.

    Plato’s Allegory of the Cave

    Plato’s Allegory of the Cave
Plato’s Allegory of the Cave centers around the beauty as well as the pain of the truth. How an illusion can damage your perspective of life. As well blinding you from the comfort of the truth. Book 7 of Plato’s Republic the “Allegory of the Cave”. Describes in great detail the effects of this. How beautifully breathtaking finding out the truth can be. As well as highlighting the painful journey of getting there and leaving your life of false illusions behind
  • 4 BCE

    Jesus Christ

    Jesus Christ
This is our second example in this presentation on the beauty of belief. While it is still up for debate on the specifics of His facial features. Like Siddhartha, He was responsible for his followers trying to find a better life through faith, and still is to this day. Making his followers find the beauty of faith, belief and blessings through him
  • Romeo and Juliet

    Romeo and Juliet
A title that needs no introductions, Romeo and Juliet is a beautiful yet tragic love story. Written by playwright William Shakespeare, another person who needs no introduction. Romeo and Juliet tells us the story of two who should be enemies falling in love. It depicts family feud and rivalry being responsible for the tragedy. Nevertheless it is an emotional play that despite the tragedy is able to tell a beautiful love story
  • Franknestein

    Franknestein
As you may already notice there is a pattern in my presentation. Although I picked beauty as my theme there is more a beauty in what it represents. Frankenstein a book by Mary Shelly is a perfect example. It depicts the beauty of storytelling. Making it almost seem real. As a reader you are almost led to believe what Dr. Frank stein did was possible. That is the beauty of it.
  • Impression, Sunrise

    Impression, Sunrise
A painting by Claude Monet is an absolute joy to look at. Not only is the embodiment of impressionism. It is such a beauty, I mean just have a look at it. Words will do no justice to what your eyes will perceive
  • The Entertainer

    The Entertainer
By pianist Scott Joplin is a timeless classic of the ragtime genre. One of the older songs that have been preserved throughout history. Is a very upbeat tune. The beautiful part about this, in my opinion is the fact a man of my skin color was able to see a bit of success. In a time where it was beyond difficult.
  • CASA BATLLO

    CASA BATLLO
A architectural design by Antoni Gaudi. Both inside and outside is an architectural master piece. Although there is only a visual representation of the outside of the building. The inside does its fair share of holing up the artistic standards of the building. Word fail to describe the beauty just have a look at it
  • Still Life with a Guitar

    Still Life with a Guitar
A painting by Georges Braque. Now to be perfectly honest with you. I have not one clue to what I am looking. However I enjoy looking at it. It gives a delightful sensation to my eye sight. I could stare at this for hours, it is a masterclass of a painting and should be classified as beautiful.
  • The Persistence of Memory

    The Persistence of Memory
A visually disorientating painting by Salvador Dali. Is a painting that paints tricks on your eyes and is no short of beautiful. However unlike the other paintings that I may have mentioned or you may see throughout the presentation. This one is more rebellious, what I mean by that is this painting stems from the Surrealism era. These painting were known to visualize quite literally the death and destruction going on in WWI. Giving not only the painting beauty, but beautiful meaning as well.
  • FALLING WATER

    FALLING WATER
A architectural design by Frank Lloyd Wright. It is not even fair to call this structure, even thought it is. It does not give it justice visually. This might be one the most artistic building I have ever seen. I was unaware you could make a house look so stunning. This, this is beauty.
  • Rock ‘n’ roll ( The beginning)

Rock ‘n’ roll ( The beginning)
In my humble opinion there is beauty in pushing the limits. Thinking outside the box, not defining your self rules. Limiting yourself to societies "normal". This as a whole is what the genre of Rock ‘n’ roll is about, and I love it. Especially in the beginning of the genre when it was never seen before
  • Bicycle Thieves

    Bicycle Thieves
Another example of beautiful story telling. The Bicycle Thieves is one of the more unique film I have had the pleasure of seeing. The fact a film can center all these storyline on a bicycle and the lack thereof is astonishing. That is why I believe that this film deserve a spot in this time line
  • A Man for All Seasons

    A Man for All Seasons
Now this is a film based on Sir Thomas More and how he handled the actions of King Henry the 8th affected. But this is not why this is here in the prestation. It is here due the beautiful imagery that the film was able to capture. The scenery, especially in the opening credits of the film, the boat scene on the lake. It was beautifully contrasted with the camera angle. Henceforth this is why this is here due to the beautiful imagery of the film.
  • Sydney Opera House (inside)

    Sydney Opera House (inside)
In terms of color pattern this by takes the cake in this entire presentation. The contrast compliments everything so beautifully. It is unbelievable to understand even while looking at it.
  • The Louvre Pyramid

    The Louvre Pyramid
This modern day pyramid is a sight for sore eyes. It is a fantastic twist on pyramids. Even though it is the opposite of what the older pyramids stands for. The see through aspect add a perfect touch to it. Overall it is a fantastic piece of art
  • The Sky is Crying

    The Sky is Crying
A lovely tune by Gary B.B. Coleman. This musical master piece falls under the blues genre of music that was discussed in class. This is a well coordinated, well written, and beautifully executed song. Yes it is a bit melancholic, but beautiful nonetheless.
