    Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini was born on the 29th of July in 1883 in a little town called Dovia di Predappio Italy. Mussolini's father, Alessandro Mussolini was a devout socialist and Benito's mother, Rosa Mussolini was a devout catholic and a school teacher ("Benito Mussolini Biography").

    In 1905, Albert Einstein developed a complicated theory about gravity's effects on objects in space called the theory of relativity.     Mussolini, a socialist since birth was removed from the Italian Socialist Party in 1914. He was expelled because he supported World War I, which was highly against socialist ideals. After this, Mussolini began to politically drift toward the right wing ("Benito Mussolini Biography").

    Fasci di Combattimento Founded
    Benito Mussolini, a then WWI Veteran founded the Fasci di Combattimento Party- a Fascist political party that aimed to restore Italy after it was left in poverty by WWI. Mussolini's new right wing party promoted nationalism and aimed for a better future, which they believed required a good leader (Adams 24).
  • Mussolini becomes Prime Minister

    Mussolini becomes Prime Minister
    Benito Mussolini and his black shirted fascists marched on Rome on October 28th of 1922. The march was peaceful, and very successful as it ended with Mussolini as the Prime Minister of Italy. He installed a Fascist government, and began to plan for Italy's future (Adams 8).

    Alexander Flemming discovers Penicillin, an antibiotic that would be used to fight many illnesses on September 28th, 1928. Medicinal practice began to modernize, and casualties from illness would eventually be greatly reduced by this discovery ("Discovery and Development of Penicillin").

    The Great Depression, a period in US and world history where stock markets crashed, sending millions of people into poverty. The Great Depression began on October 24th, 1929. The Great Depression would last until 1939 ("The Great Depression").

    Invasion of Ethiopia
    Italy, led by Mussolini invaded Ethiopia on October 3rd of 1935. Mussolini aimed to build an Italian Empire, and for Italy to be a force to be reckoned with. Italy violated the League of Nations' laws by invading Ethiopia and using gas to kill enemies, but Italy continued its skirmish (Adams 18).
  • Pact of Steel Signed

    Pact of Steel Signed
    Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler- both European Fascists signed the Pact of Steel- a treaty that officially made the Italians and Nazis allies. Italy began to struggle militarily as it was exhausted from excursions in Ethiopia, Mussolini used this alliance to prop his power up. Japan would later join this powerhouse alliance (Adams 38).
  • World War II Begins

    World War II Begins
    Tensions in Europe had already been high, but when Adolf Hitler invaded Poland on September 1st, 1939 it caused the British and other nations to declare war on the Axis Powers. World War Two is well known for being the largest war in human history, with over 60 million dead by the end of the war. Italy would go on to invade Albania and other Mediteranean nations like Greece ("World War II").
  • Mount Rushmore Completed

    Mount Rushmore Completed
    One of the United State's most famous landmarks, Mount Rushmore was completed on October 31st 1941. Mount Rushmore depicts Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Construction started in 1927 and ended fourteen years later ("Carving History").
  • Death of Mussolini

    Death of Mussolini
    Benito Mussolini, his wife and other fascists are all killed on April 28th, 1945. Benito was attempting to cross into Switzerland with German troops, disguised in a Luftwaffe uniform. Mussolini and his wife were taken and killed by guards. Their bodies were transported to Milan, Italy and famously hung on display upside down ("Benito Mussolini Executed").
  • Japan is Bombed, World War II Ends

    Japan is Bombed, World War II Ends
    The war was already over in Europe, but the Pacific Theater was yet to see its hottest (pun intended) event. On August 6th, 1945 the nuclear bomb "Little Boy" was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan by the plane the Enola Gay leaving much of the city in rubble. Three days later "Fat Man" was dropped on Nagasaki, by the Bockscar. Japan was left crippled and would surrender less than a month later ("Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki").
