  • Absolute monarchy to democracy

Bhutan changed from an absolute monarchy to a democracy with the first ever election. This allowed more choice for the people to choose how they wanted their country to be run.
  • 64 000 tourists

In 2011 there were 64 000 tourists in Bhutan. This shows how much growth in the tourist industry there has been since 1974 when the first tourists were allowed to enter Bhutan. It may seem like a small number, but with how much it costs and the difficulty it takes to get into Bhutan, it is quite a large number.
