Birth of a Baby

  • 1st Month

    The fertilized eggs begin to grow and the water tight forms around it with fluid. The baby is only 1/4 inches long.
  • 2nd month

    The babies facial features develop a little more. The neutral tube is well formed by this time. By the end of the second month the baby is now 1 inch long and weighs 1/30 of an ounce.
  • 3rd month

    Your babies hand, arms , fingers, toes are forming or they could be completely formed. The babies reproductive organs have been developed. The baby is 4 inches long. Around this time a miscarriage is able to happen.
  • 4th month

    The babies heartbeat is now noticeable. That is when your nervous system really begins. The babies teeth and even bones can be denser. Around this month is when you can figure out the gender of the baby. The baby is 6 inches long and weighs 4 ounces.
  • 5th month

    The baby can now move and you are able to feel it. The baby's skin is covered with a coating known as vernix caseisa. It protects the babies skin from fluids. The baby should now be 1/2 pounds and 10 inches long.
  • 6th month

    Baby can respond to sounds they hear inside and outside of the body. Your baby can develop hiccups at this time. The baby should be 12 inches long.
  • 7th month

    The baby continues to develop body fat. The baby is most likely to change positions so much. The baby should be 14 inches long.
  • 8th month

    The baby is 18 inches long and can weigh up to 5 pounds. The baby's brain is fully developed at this point. The lungs can still be immature.
  • 9th month

    The baby continues to grow and their lungs are fully developed. At this point the baby is ready to come, labor is on the way. The baby is about 18 up to 20 inches long. Most likely to weigh 7 pounds.
