    French and Indian War
    The french and indian war was fought between British colonies against France and the Indians. It was a war over land, more specifically the control over the Ohio river valley. It ended with the British winning, and the signing of the Treaty of 1763. However even though the british won they were left with a great amount of debt.
  • Treaty of 1763

    Treaty of 1763
    The Treaty of 1763 ended the French and Indian war, also known as the seven year war. The war was fought between France and Britain over territory. The treaty stated that Great Britain had won the war. France also had to give up all their land in America that was east of Mississippi. The treaty was signed in Paris during February of 1763.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was put out by the royal parliament on October 7, 1863. The proclamation was put in place by Great Britain after the seven year war. It stated that there would be no expansion of the colonies to the west past the Appalachian mountains. The proclamation was put in place to please the indians. It also was to protect both the American colonist and the Indians from attacks, whether it be the indians attacking colonist or colonist attacking the indians.

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp act was one of the first taxes put on the colonies by the British. The act was put into place in 1765 because the British was in a lot of debt after the French & Indian war. Great Britain felt as though the colonies should help pay for the debt since Britain had pretty much fought it for them. The act stated that stamps had to be on all legal papers, printers for newspaper, and tavern owners licenses. Even though the stamp wasn't that expensive it still made many of the colonist upset.

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre happened on March 3, 1770. It was a horrible riot between the British soldiers and the colonist. It all started with Private white was guarding money collected from all the taxes and upset colonist came to protest. Soon after the first shot was fired and soldiers and colonist started shooting at each other. By the end it had killed 5 colonist and wounded 6 others.
  • Committees of Correspondence

    Committees of Correspondence
    The Committees of Correspondence was proposed in 1772 by Samuel Adams. The committee was essentially a propaganda stunt. It was created to publicize grievances against Britain in the colony. After the Committee was created in Boston many other colonies saw this and decided to do the same. It was a way for colonist to share their thoughts and information when it came to colonist and how they felt about Great Britain.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party happened on December 12 in the year of 1773. The protest was an effect of the taxes that Britain had put on the colonist like the stamp act and the tea act. The colonist, in result of the tea act being placed onto them, dressed up as Mohawk Indians and went on board ships and poured all the tea chest into the Boston harbor. Some colonist were happy about this act and others were not. Franklin believed the company be reimbursed for the lost tea.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The intolerable acts were put into in result of the Boston tea party. Britain believed that the colonist should be punished for the crime they've committed. The acts stated that the Boston port would be closed and the people who were responsible for the tea party would be tried. The colonist also had to quarter the British soldiers in their homes. Because of this more and more colonist became angered with Great Britain and the king.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    Lexington and Concord is a small town right outside of Boston. This was were the very first war was fought that began the American Revolutionary war. When this war was about to take place a man named Paul Revere rode around town yelling "the british are coming." Even though the colonist were warned about the British soldiers coming and they fought back, the colonist had lost this first war. However this war lead to many more in order for America to gain their freedom
  • Bunker Hill

    Bunker Hill
    The Battle of Bunker Hill was fought on June 17, 1775. The colonist were defeated in this war, however even though the British had won the colonist had put up a good fight that gave them a confidence boost. The British at the time were under the control of William Howe & the colonist, Prescott. Because the colonist were not as trained and prepared for war like the British were, Prescott told his soldiers to not shoot until "they saw the whites of the enemies eyes", so they could save ammunition
  • Publication of Common Sense

    Publication of Common Sense
    The publication of Common Sense was on January 10, 1776. This was one of the first pamphlets for the United States. This pamphlet was used to share ideas and thoughts. The common sense was written anonymously. It stated the idea that the colonist could be independent from Britain. This pamphlet was very important for the independence of America.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was the first successful declaration of independence in the world. The document was signed on July 4 of 1776 right after the colonist had won the last war by cornering the British and making Cornwallis surrender. This very important document was written by our founding fathers; Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, Sherman, and Livingston. The document stated that the 13 colonies were free from the British. A new country had been made.
  • Valley Forge

    Valley Forge
    Valley Forge is located in Pennsylvania. This is the location known for the horrible winters that the American soldiers had to go through. Over 200 men died while at Valley Forge. Even though the winter was a very hard time for the men, it also brought some good. Marquis de Lafayette, French commander, came to Valley forge and helped train the soldiers & taught them many things that would help them. Because of this Washington's army became stronger and eventually defeated the British.
  • Saratoga Battle

    Saratoga Battle
    The Battle of saratoga was two battles that happened in the fall of 1777. The second battle was won by the American soldiers, though it was a decisive win. This battle was a very big turning point in the war for the colonist. Because of this battle France agreed to sign the treaty. With the help of France America had a better chance at winning the revolution.
  • Battle of Cowpens

    Battle of Cowpens
    Cowpens is located in South Carolina. It is where the Battle of Cowpens happened on January 1, 1781. The British had just previously won 2 wars fought in South carolina so the commander for the Continental army decided to split his troops up. He did this in order to force the British to fight them in multiple different areas. General Greene also decided to do this because it was easier to feed smaller groups of soldiers.
  • Yorktown

    Yorktown
    Yorktown, located in Virginia, is the location of the Battle of Yorktown. The Battle was fought on September 28, 1781. This battle was the last battle fought in the American Revolution, and America won their independence from Britain. Washington, his soldiers, along with French soldiers cornered Cornwallis and his army in Yorktown. Cornwallis surrendered because there was no way his men would've won with French ships on one side and soldiers on the other. Washington and his men had conquered.
  • Treaty of Paris 1783

    Treaty of Paris 1783
    The Treaty of Paris 1783 was signed on September 3, 1783. This Treaty followed the Treaty of Paris 1763. The United States and Britain had signed this treaty in order to end the American Revolution. From this treaty the colonist were now free from the ruling of Great Britain. This treaty also said that all the land in America that was once Great Britain has their colonies at now belonged to America.
