    The roman emperor Constantine founded the Byzantine capital which was called constantinople. It was established in the year of 330 A.D.. After he established the city and died the territory was then split in two and was attacked by Germans until all that Rome had left was the city of Italy.

    Emperor Basil's military conquests had started in the year of 986 A.D.. Emperor Basil II gathered a 30,000-man army, marched on the Bulgarian city of Sofia. Basil began to march his army back towards Byzantine Thrace but was ambushed and defeated at the Battle of the Gates of Trajan. Basil learned from his mistake and his next attack of Bulgaria would be carried out in a different way. The Battle of Kleidion is where he was finally victoriest against the Bulgarians and captured 15000 prisoners.
