    Holden Gets Kicked Out of School
    On this day Holden got kicked out of his school, Prencey Prep. Holden is kicked out for his extremely poor grades. He is doing so poorly that the only course he was passing was English. Holdens professors suspect that he is not even trying.
  • Holden Says Goodbye to His Favorite Teacher

    Holden Says Goodbye to His Favorite Teacher
    On this date Holden is begining to leave the school. While leaving he decides to pay a visit to his old history professor, who was one of the few teachers he ever liked. Holden has a long discussion with the teacher, who then tries to persuade him to get his act together
  • Holdens Brother

    Although there is no real substancial event at this point, we do learn of Holdens brother who has recently died of Lukimea. Here we find out how much this has effected Holden. Holden talks about his brothers old baseball mitt, which he still has, that is covered in writing from his brother.
  • The Fight

    This is an important moment in the book, as it is a moment when we really see Holden's personally, and his emotions get the best of him. Holden's roomate is named Stradlater. Holden thinks that Stradlater is trying to take advantage of a girl who is a friend of Holden's. This makes Holden very angry so he fights Stradlater. Holden knows he will not likely win the fight, but he is still relentless.

    At this time Holden decides instead of going home early he will go to New York city. He does this because he does not want his parents to know he got kicked out of school early before the holidays. Holden is now a 16 year old boy alone in New York City.
  • Holden Stays At a Hotel

    Holden Stays At a Hotel
    Holden is now in New York city all by himself. On this night he checks into a cheap hotel in the city, and then proceeds to hit the bars. Holden drinks and dances with girls on this night out. Once the night is over he begins to think about his old firend Jane, who is the girl him and Stadlater fought about. Holden also talks about the possibility of Jane being sexually assaulted by her step father.

    Just a little bit later in the night the prostitute, Maurice, shows up at Holden's Holtel room with the elevator man. The elevator many, Sunnny, proceeds to punch Holden and then take five dollars from is pocket as payment for Maurice earlier.

    On this night when Holden enters the elevator he is offered a prostitute by the elevator man. Holden accepts the offer and the prostitute is sent up to his room. When she arrives holden is not in the mood for anything of the sort, and is infact depressed. He attempts to talk to the prostitute, but she has no interest. She then tries to get him to pay him for the occasion, but he refuses, which starts trouble with her.
  • A Big Day For Holden

    A Big Day For Holden
    This is perhaps Holden's busiest day in New York City Yet. Holden plans a date with a girl named Sally. Holdens date is at night, so he decides to fill is time with spending the day in the city. Holden does this by buying his little sister, Pheobe a record. He then remembers that Pheobe is supposed to be at the museum this day. Holden goes to the museum hoping to see her, but cannot find her. Finally, it is time for Holden's big date.

    Holden takes sally to a show and iceskating, and everything is going extremely well unitl he proposes that they should run away. Sally shoots the idea down, which causes holden to verbally attack and offend Sally.
  • Holden Visits Home

    On the night of this date, when Holden is slightly drunk, he decides to visit Pheobe at home. His parents are not home at this time. Holden and Pheobe catch up with one another. Pheobe promises to keep Holden's secret of getting kicked out of school. Holden also gives Pheobe the record he bought her, but had since broke, but Pheobe still cherishes it. Holden then leaves when his parents are arriving home.
  • Holden Decides to Leave New York

    At this time Holden gets the idea to leave New York and head west to live a more simple life. Holden delivers a not to Pheobes school telling her to meet him so he can say goodbye. When Pheobe meets him at the museum she has her suitcase with her, and she says that she wants to go with him. By this point Holden has decided he no longer should go, so he tells Pheobe they are not going,
  • Holden and Pheobe Go to The Zoo

    Holden and Pheobe Go to The Zoo
    After Holden tells Pheobe he is not leaving, they decide to spend the day together. Holden takes her to the zoo. At this point Holden feels happy just watching his sister enjoy herself. This is the first time he has felt happy in a long while.
  • Holden Returns Home

    At this point Holden returns home. From the book, it is assumed that Holden is institutionalized at this time for mental issues, but this is more inferred than factual.
