    The French and Indian War was a wa between the French/Indians and the British over who would control most of North America. The Treaty of Paris ended the war in 1763. The French ended up losing most of their land in America and Great Britian got all the land east of the Mississippi.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act put a tax on sugar, and molasses.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    This was issued by King George the Third and forbade settling west of the Appalachian Mountains. The main purpose of the Proclamation was to stop fighting between the Native Americans and the settlers.
  • The Quatering Act

    The Quatering Act
    The Quartering Act required colonists to feed, clothe, and provide necessary items for the British Soldiers.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This required all colonists to buy special stamps for all paper products. It put taxes on newspaper, licenses, insurance policies, land titles, contracts, wills, and other things.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A group of colonists were angry at Parliment for the heavy taxes. The colonists began by throwing snowballs and shouting at the British Soldiers. This scared the soldiers into firing their guns. 5 people were killed and many were injured.
  • Battle of Almance

    Battle of Almance
    Regulators marched and gathered at Almance Creek, which only lasted a couple of hours. The Regulators had no commander or orginizations. They quickly ran out of ammunition and had to retreat. At least 20 people were killed and 150 were wounded.

    The Tea Act
    The Tea Act was a law passed by the Parliment intended to help the British East India company. It lowered the price of tea by creating a monoply for Britian. The colonists were forced to buy tea from Britain and eventually boycotted buying the Tea because of the high prices.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    A group of colonits called, "The Sons of Liberty" tried to stop tea from being unloaded in the colonies. They refused to give the ships the proper papers to return to England. Then a group of colonists disguised as Indians boarded a ship and dumped 342 cases of tea into the river, effectivley destroying thousands of dollars worth of tea.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts
    These were a series of acts that were passed together. They were passed to show the power that Britain still had over the colonists. The Intolerable Acts were passed against the people of Boston to make an example of them. They closed the ports, and strengthened the Quartering Act.
  • Fighting at Concord and Lexington

    Fighting at Concord and Lexington
    The Congress (colonies) demanded the end of the Intolerable Acts. The British refused and the two groups began fighting. British soldiers were sent to capture Colonial Leaders. The first shot of war was fired. 300 people were killed or woumded.
