  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian war was a war fought between the British and the French and their Native allies for the fertile Ohio River Valley land from 1754 to 1763. The Treaty of Paris 1763 ended the war, with British accomplishing their goal of driving out the French out of North America and gaining Canada and all french lands west of the Mississippi River and also gaining Florida.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act also known as the American Revenue Act, occured on April 5, 1764.When Parliament passed a newer version of the Suagr and Molasses Act, that was about to expire. It is necessary that a revenue should be raised. It provided for strong customs enforcementof the duties on sugar,and molasses imported into the colonies from non-British sources.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was passed by Parliament on March 22, 1765. The Parliament passed a bill to raise money from the colonies. This act wanted colonists to pay a tax on almost all printed material. This is the first time that Parliament forced to have a direct tax in the colonies. The colonists protested against this because they feel that Parliament has no right to tax them. Also they feel if they accept this, that they would add even more taxes.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering act, that was passed on May 3, 1765, was an unpopular law that required the colonies to provide housing and supplies for the British troops stationed there after the French and Indian war. Although they complained, most colonists went with it because they accepted Parliaments right to regulate trade and provide for defense.
  • Declatory Acts

    Declatory Acts
    The Declatory Acts is also knoiwn as the American Colonies Act of 1766. This act was an act of the Parliament of Great Britain, it followed to repealed the Stamp Act. The Declaration stated that Parliament's authority was the same in America as in Britain. It also claims Parliament's authority to pass laws that were mandatory on the American colonies.
  • Townshed Acts

    Townshed Acts
    The Townshed Acts, that was passed on June 15, 1767, was an act that imported taxes on a variety of goods such as glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea, to support royal officials in the colonies, removing the responsibility from the colonial assemblies. This act was so unpopular that all taxes were repealed except the one on tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a historical event that took place on March 5, 1770. When colonists thre snowballs and rocks at the British soldiers who were guarding the Customs House. Those soldiers got nervous, so they just shot into the crowd, which killed five colonists. This was later on called the Boston Massacre.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party, that happened on May 10,1773, was a tea boycott done by the colonist who said that the British were trying to trick them into paying the tax to help the British East India Company that was having financial problems. The colonists dressed as Indians, boarded three British ships, that was heavily loaded with tea, and dumped the tea into the harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts that were passed on March 24, 1774 and effective on July 2 1774, was passed to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party. Parliament closed the port to trade until the inhabitants paid for the destroyed tea, including the tax. Also, the acts forced colonists to house British troops and allow British officials to be tried in Britain for crimes committed in the colonies.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    First military engagements of the American Revolutionary War, they were fought on April 19,1775. 700 british troops went to Lexington were going against 77 militiamen. The outnumbered militiamen were ordered by their commander to disperse when they heard a gun shot. To this day we still don't know who shot first. After in Lexington, the British decided to move on to Concord.Looking for people, not realizing they all relocated. In Concord unlike Lexington we know who shot first- the British.
