    A document under which colonists were invited to immigrate to Mexico and was the only one they swore to defend. They made the Constitution of 1824 so hey could be independent from Spain.
  • Mier y Teran Report

    Mier y Teran Report
    Mier y Teran was a Mexican general. The Mexican government sent Mier y Teran to go and investigate the conditions in Texas. The report studied the number of Americans living in Texas. Teran told the Mexican government that that Texans outnumbered Mexicans in Texas by 10 to 1.

    Law of April 6, 1830
    This law came into the result of Mier y Teran. This law prohibited slavery in Texas, immigration of Americans in Texas, and placed taxes on goods coming coming into Texas from America.

    Where: Turtle Bayou, Tejas
    What: Texans wrote resolutions to send to Mexico. The resolutions were, not rebelling against mexico and support the Constitution of 1824.
    Why: Texans were trying to calm down the tension between them and Mexico.

    The Convention of 1832 was the first political gathering of colonists in Mexican Texas. This convention was held at San Felipe de Austin. The convention was held to discuss their problems and the delegates wanted a change in Texas. Delegates choose Stephen F. Austin as their leader.
  • SFA goes to Mexico City

    SFA goes to Mexico City
    The Convention of 1833 elected Austin to deliver the petitions to
    Mexico City and argue for their approval of the petitions for self-government. The Mexican president, Antonio L-pez de Santa Anna, suspended the Mexican Constitution and imprisoned him.
