Causes of the Texas Revolution

  • Constitution of 1824

    Constitutional government started in Texas in 1824 which was similar to the United States constitution. Catholic Was an original religion. They had three branches similar to the United States and had an election every 4 years. Stephen F. Austin Framed the Constitution of 1824 and Erasmo Sequin the mayor represented Texas in the assembly.

    Fredonian Rebelion

    The Rebellion was a dispute Mexican government and the Edward brothers. Haden Edwards received a grant to settle 800 families around Nacogdoches in east TX. Edward was uphold to land grants certified by the Spanish and the Mexican Government and Edward forced both Hispanic and Anglo Americas to either pay him or move. This rule offended many older settlers and Mexico cancelled his Contract.
  • Mier Y Teran Report

    In 1827 President Guadalupe Victoria named General Manuel de Mier Y Teran to lead a scientific and boundary expedition into Texas.
  • Guerrero Decree

    The Guerrero Decree abolished slavery throughout the Republic of Mexico issued Vicente R. Guerrero on September 15, 1829. Though the decree was never obeyed in Texas and it left many Texas colonists convinced that their interest was not safe.
