  • The ratification of the U.S.

    The U.S. Constitution was ratified and it said "All men are created equal". However people debated on the slaves, whether they were equal or not.
  • Puchase of the Lousiana Purchase

    With the purchase, the U.S. doubled in size and the question to bring slavery in the new territory was questioned.
  • Missouri Compromise of 1820

    The Missouri Compromise states that states above the 36'30' line were free, exeption of Missouri and already established states, and states below the line were slave. This creates a problem becouse thier is more territory up north than south.
  • Nat Turner Slave Rebellion

    A slave named Nat Turner had a dream that God told him to free his people and lead a rebellion that cost up to 65 whites. This caused stricter rights for slaves.

    2. Let Utah and the New Mexico vote to be free or slaved
    3. Texas got rid of a lot of its land
    4. Slave trading was abolished in Washington D.C.
