    The Olmec emerged between 1500 and 1200 B.C and developed a sophisticated society. It only lasted until 300 B.C
    200 A.D the Mayan culture emerged from ideas of the Olmec. They developed calendars and were talented in engineering (builtgreat pyramids). The fall of the empire was caused from the lack of unity of each city-state (900 A.D)

    The earliest empire in Africa was the Ghana. The empire sat between gold and salt mines, this led to the people controlling the trade of the region and building an empire. When the Muslims began their North African conquest, the Ghana merchants grew wealthier and welcomed the Muslims. During the 1200s, the empire began to collaspe due to the constant war between the Muslims of the Sahara.

    In the 1400s ships called Caravelle were important ships.
    Caravelle- portuguese ships that was smaller and capable of carrying 130 tons.
