The Europeans who settled South Africa were the Boers. After diamonds and gold were discovered in Africa, adventures from all over the world came to get some. The Boers treid to keep them from getting political rights. The Boers blamed the British for attempting to start a rebellion against them and started a war with them in 1899 -
Maji Maji Rebellion
In Africa in 1905, there was a strange belief that if you sprinkle a "magic water" (maji-maji) on yourself, it would turn the German bullets into water. This became known as the Maji Maji Rebellion. OVer 20 different ethnic groups came together to fight for their freedom. -
