    This is important because this is what started it all of with the Portuguese slave trade.

    This is important because from one it highlights how the Portuguese were not the only dominant power, it also highlights that the slave trade was lucrative and good business because many nations were getting involved in it.

    This is important because there would be a lot of turmoil after their fall, especially religion wise.

    This is important because there would be lasting impacts of the colony, long after the Dutch had left and the English took over. Namely there would be a lot of racial tensions.

    This is important because it allows the English to make more money, and it gives them an incentive to get more slaves from Africa, hurting Africa.
