Chapter 3 : The League of Nations

  • Wall Street Crash

Due to Protectionism in the USA, which refers to imposing high taxes on imports, other countries couldn't make a profit. This led to a decline in foreign demand for American goods and led people to sell shares, creating a panic on the New York Stock Exchange.
  • Opening of the World Disarmament

The League of Nations organized this conference to discuss the arms reduction that was mentioned in the Treaty of Versailles and the Convent of the league of nations. This ultimately failed because many countries were still scared of Germany gaining power although they were the only ones that kept their commitment. This was a main factor in proving that the League held no power.
