    Theodore Roosevelt in 1908 negotiated
    the Gentlemen’s Agreement, which was an agreement beween the United States and Japan that limitited Japenese immigration to the U.S.

    California Alein Land Law of 1913
    A Law that stated that Aleins of the U.S could not own land in California. It was put into place by California legislation. This Law was directed at Japanese immigrants.

    World War II is said to ave started wgen GErmany invaded Poland. Polish armys were pushed back into oland where eventaully other cuntries such as France and Great Britain.

    The Congress of Raciel Eqaulity was a new militant oraganization that ws a product of black soldiers wanting eqaul rights for Blacks in America. The war was a huge turning point in civil rightd for blacks.

    The Allies were taking many of the Axis' soldiers as prisoners and the Germans leave Finland. Mussolini and Hitlers death contributed to the downfall of the Axis Powers. The Germans began to surrender the land they had taken all over Europe. Several Declarations and treaties were signed and Japan surrendered which then concluded World War II.

    Truman Doctrine
    President Truman said that economic aid would be given to Greece and Turkey to help end their ancient rivalry. This doctrine changed it United States foreign policy. It steered the policy away from the US only getting involved if it directly involved the U.S. Truman used communism to help gain support for this doctrine. He said that Greece would become communist if we did not bring help to its policial stability.
  • Taft- Hartley Act

    Taft- Hartley Act
    It was an act that was vetoed by President Truman, but overrode by congress. It limited the actions and power of labor unions. Truman said that it was against freedom of speech but congress thought it was neccessary to protect businesses. It was mostly unpopular among citizens.
  • Berlin Blockade

    Berlin Blockade
    The Soviet Union blocked the railway that carried supplies to West Berlin. Truman out smarted the dirty commies and flew the supplies and called it the Berlin Airlift. Many Ally countires helped prvode planes and supplies and it was very successful.

    Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong announced the creation of the People's Republic of China. This created a massive civil war between the Communist Party and the Nationalist Party. This also ended diplomatic ties with the U.S for a long time.

    It started as a civil war in Korea but then when China offered its help the allies got involved, specifically America. It ended with the split of Korea into two parts and it brought the Cold War to Asia which made it more of a threat to the world.

    The treaty was put together to help protect the Pacific region. After WWII the U.S thought that the Pacific needed the security to keep people safe. It was also there to keep peace bewtween the countries in case of another world war.

    The Immigration and Nationality Act
    This act upheld the the quota system of the previous immigration act. It included Chinese immigrants but it said that people could live in American based on skill and family reunification. It brought out two different sides in America, the idea that we should let immigrants in, and the idea that imigration would be a huge threat to national security due to the Cold War.
