  • HMS Beagle and Charles's Research

Aboard the HMS Beagle, Charles and the crew led by, Captain Robert Fitzroy, would take a 5 year journey around the world. During the voyage, Charles observed and researched birds, plants, and even fossils. The Galapagos Archipelago and Pacific Islands are where Charles discovered most of his findings. in 1836 when the ship returned, Charles wrote his findings in the "Journal of Researches". His Theory about the origin of living things was controversial to what other naturalists perceived.
  • Theory of Evolution

Darwin's theory was that plants and animals in certain ecosystems would evolve over time to fit the current environment they lived in while those who could not adapt and change would die off. This process was named "Natural Selection". Darwin noticed the same features in species around the world but in select locations they differed which led him to believe that those species have "evolved" from their original design. This theory was later acknowledged as "Darwinism".
  • Public Introduction

In 1858, Darwin announced his theory of evolution at a meeting at the Linnean Society, a group that dedicates their time to studying information concerning natural history, evolution, and taxonomy. A year layer he published his best known book on his theory called "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection". Years later, DNA studies have proved Darwin's work to be credible, but has caused controversy with people who believe in Creationism.

  • World Affect and Death

In the late 1800's into the Industrial Revolution, part of the world adopted Darwin's ideas and came with up with Social Darwinism, which was to help explain the differences in social class and economic troubles. Labor abuse, racism, and social inequality were also the product of Social Darwinism in many people's eyes. On April 19, 1882, Charles Darwin died in his home in Down House, London. Darwin's works are still believed in to this day and constantly researched for any other discoveries.
