Charles Darwin liked collecting shells, minerals, stamps and coins. He was always interested in nature. -
He was born in Shrewsbury.
Shrewsbury is a market town in the midlands of England, with a very well conserved medieval centre. -

He attended Edimburgh University to study medicine. During that time, he studied geology, anatomy and taxidermy. -

He attended Christ´s College, in Cambridge to study Arts and, eventually, become a pastor. He specialized in entomology. -
He decided not to be an anglican pastor.
He was much more interested in nature and investigation. -

HMC Beagle Expedition.
HMC Beagle was a scientific expedition. There, he collected, examined and studied marine and terrestrial species. By observing them, he established a hypothesis on the evolution of species. -

He got married to Emma Wedgwood.
During previous years, Charles had suffered from an illness, a weird heart disease. Its causes remained unknown. They had 10 children. -

Theory of natural selection.
According to this theory, all living things are struggling to survive. The living things that have the most helpful traits for their environment tend to survive. These living things then pass along their helpful traits to their young. In this way, animals change, or evolve, over hundreds of years.
