    The GMD is a political party developed in China during the Civil War. This particular party is a Nationalist party. This party was the ruling party in China from 1928 until there defeat against the CCP. The formation of the GMD is important because this was on the two major parties in China and was involved in fighting during the Civil War

    The May 4th Movement was an anti-imperialist, cultural, and political movement to protest the Chinese government's weak response towards the treaty of Versailles. These uprisings caused protests throughout China, and caused Chinese nationalism to surge in the country. This event is important becasue this caused the nationalistic party to grow and gain popularity in China.

    The CPC, also known as the Communist Party of China, is the sole governing party of China. The CPC is organized on the basis of democratic centralism, a principle conceived by Vladimir Lenin. The party fought against the GMD during the Civil War and ended up winning the war

    The United Front was formed in 1923 as an alliance to end warlordism in China. This means that the two parties in atttendance will stop the fighting immediatley. The even is important because it shows that China tried to stop these fightings against the party, and this will prove ineffective.

    The massacre was started by the CCP side, while they attacked Shang Hai killing anoyone in their path. This was an important event because this conflict split the GMD right wiing and left wing in half. The CCP eventually captured the city of Nanjing

    China finally becomes united after many years of dispution between the GMD and the CCP. The communist party took over China and the GMD troops started fighting against the CCP at this point. This was important because it marked the official date where the two parties started fighting.

    This attacl was very significant event during the Chinese Civil war. The LON was supposed to support the side that was being attacked. Plus this proved a real threat to China, and now they needed to prepare swiftly. This was importatnt because it showed a power that could stand up to China, and later prove to be an enemy.

    This certain event explains that Japan ended up invading Shanghai. This was shown as threat to the CCP and they started to fight against the Japanse. This was importarnt because ti was the first real battle of the Japanese and Chinese conflict

    This was a military retreat by the CCP side and they had to walk all the way back to their base. Most men died of heat exhaustion and low food supplies. The CCP were forced out because the GMD troops were coming by in masses. This was important because it showed hope for the GMD side in winning the war and changing the political side as well.

    This was a pact formed by the CCP and the GMD to suspend fighting in China during the Japanese war. This was good for China because they could stop the invaders and be back to normal. But this front only lasted until the war end. This event is important because they needed to stop fighting on the home-front and figth against the Japanese

    Japanese troops tookover the city of Nanjing and they mass murdered and raped most of the civilians in this city. This was a serious problem in China, this showed that the Japanese were ruthless and that China needed to do something quick. The Japanese army would stop for nothing, China's fighters needed to band together and drive them out of their country

    The CCP troops arrived at Anhui only to see 80,000 GMD troops standing in their way. This battle ended the Second United Front and many lives in the CCP band were lost. This event is important because it shows that the truce between the two parties is destroyed, and fighting will break out.

    Mao Zedong becomes Chairman of China
    In 1945 Mao Zedong of the CCP party becomes the leader of China. He changed China in the ways he wanted to, and his communist ways were adapted from the Soviets. This event is important because Mao changed China forever and implemented the Great Leap Forward, and the cultural revolution, all through communistic ideals.

    Japan Formally Surrenders in Chinese Theater
    This event finally ended the fighting between the Japanese and Chinese troops. The tensions were still very high between the two countries after the war had ended though. This event was important because Japan was finally driven out of China and they could continue on reforming the country.
  • Truce between CCP and GMD

    Again there is another truce between the GMD and CCP to stop the fighting throughout China. This event proves to be important because again China is able to focus on land reforms and Mao Zedongs wishes. But just like any other truce they had it will eventually be broken.

    Once the fighting breaks out between the two fronts. These two parties have been fighting since the 1920's. The GMD foces end up attacking the CCP troops stationed in Manchuria. The GMD wanted to finally make the country nationalist, but CCP wanted to keep the country communist. This is important because fighting once again breaks out, but this is the last time it will happen.

    US Congress passes China Aid Act
    The US gave China almost 400 million dollars to the the military and the party in order to not let the whole country turn communist. The GMD troops needed most of the money badly in order to defeat the CCP troops. This event was important because it was a huge turning point for the GMD troops as they could finally compete with the CCP party.
  • Battle of Huai-Hai begins

    Battle of Huai-Hai begins
    This battle was the most decisive for the CCP party they prevailed against the GMD troops. The losses for the GMD side were upwards of 500,000 troops. This victory proved that the CCP party now ruled China and China became a communistic country. This event is important because China now is communist which means that most of Asia might follow China's ideals.
  • The CCP capture Nanjing and Shangai.

    The CCP takeover the major cities Nanjing and Shanghai, this offcially marked the end of the civil war. The CCP party tookover China and now they are completely communist. This event was important because after the takeover of these cities the GMD party had no where else to go and they had to surrender ending the civil war.
  • Mao establishes the People's Republic of China.

    Mao establishes the People's Republic of China.
    Mao anounces that he is now the official leader of China, and that the war is over. China is now a communistic country due to the fact that Mao rules over the country. The US suffers a huge blow because they needed China to not fall towards communism, in order for the smaller countries to not fall as well. This event is important because China is now offcially communist and the US failed to help.
