    Alonzo Herndon is an example of a successful entrepreneur. He risked his money, knowing that he could go into debt, to try and create a new business. He eventually became the wealthiest black citizen after having his barber shops and large amounts of property.

    Lester Maddox, a Georgia governor, was a supporter of segregation, but strangely enough, helped appoint blacks to positions of government.
  • End of the White Primary

    End of the White Primary
    The Supreme Court ruled Texas's decision to be unconstitutional, which forced Georgia to then allow blacks to vote too.

    The flag before it was changed has the state seal on it, but then changed to the Confederate Flag to show their disapproval of the Brown vs. Board of Education.

    On January 9, 1961, Hamilton and Charlayne registered for their classes after finally being accepted. Their many applications were denied, so they filed a civil suit where they were told they would have been accepted right away if they had been white.

    Reapportionment is very similar to checks and balances, as it must be approved by certain individuals. The state was reapportioned every ten years because of the continuously increasing population, which also allowed each district to have equal power in the General Assembly.

    Jimmy Carter was a Democratic 39th resident that sometimes helped, but also hurt the country. He signed many agreements that everyone was hoping he'd agree with, but he also didn't handle stressful situations very well. ~The date is the time period that he was president

    1996 Olympics
    The 1996 Olympics were held in Atlanta, which brought in 5.1 billion dollars and caused an expansion of parks, hotels, and sidewalks. The famous Centennial Park, during the Olympics, was bombed and caused many deaths and awful injuries.
