The Brown versus Board of Education was a huge agreement that the United States Supreme Court made. It made state laws seperating black and white student in public school would be unconstitutional and now would be illegal. -

An African American lady named Rosa Parks was seated in a segregated bus. Awhite man came on the bus and wanted her seat. she refused to give up her seat. That was the start of a 13-month Montgomery Bus Boycott and resulted in a huge victory for the Civil Rights rights for African Americans. -
Civil Rights Act of 1957
This is a huge move for African Americans because the civil rights act of 1957 made it so they could finally vote. This was the first federal civil rights legislation passed by the United States Congress since the Civil Rights Act of 1875. -
The Albany Movement
The Albany Movement was the first mass movement for modern day civil rights. There goal was to desegurate a whole commutity. But over 1,000 Afrcian Americans went to jail. Albany was a failure, they learned from there mistakes and next went to Birmingham and they got it desegurated. -
March on Washington
A quarter of a million Americans from across the United States came to Washington D.C. They came to the nation's capitol and they came for there civil rights. This became a defining moment in the Civil Rights movement. -

JFK assassination was a huge part to the to the civil rights movement because he supported the African Americans. He thought that the African American were treated poorly in the past and he wants them to have there rights. -

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 made it so African Americans could go to public places and also got rid of employment discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin. This is considered one of the crowning legislative achievements of the civil rights movement. -
Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Nobel Prize
He won this because of his nonviolent resistance to racial prejudice in America. He received a doctorate degree in theology and in 1955 organized the first major protest of the civil rights movement: the successful Montgomery Bus Boycott. Most people say he is the reason why African Americans have there rights today. -
Dr. King's Assassination
Martin Luther King Jr., was assassinated because of his efforts towards the civil rights movement. He American clergyman and civil rights leader, was fatally shot at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, He was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m. MLK was such a figure to African Americans he got a holiday named after him. -
civil rights act of 1968
The civil rights act of 1968 was made five days after the assassination MLK. This law had the largest impact in my opinion I made it so that people could not sell or trade African Americans anymore. This is what MLK worked for his whole life.
