Rosa Parks is a black woman who went on the bus. Usually, the whites sit in the front, all of the front seats were taken and a white man was forced to stand. Rosa Parks did not stand up to give him her seat and was arrested. -

Bus Boycott
17,000 other riders had boycotted buses and used other ways of transportation such as car pooling and walking to get to the places they needed to be. Finally, the city agreed that there would be a new "first come, first served" and to hire black bus drivers. -
Little Rock Nine
Niine black students went to the all-white Central High School, these students were escorted by troops. White citizens were angered at this decision, this lead to the 9 students being harassed everyday on their way to school. -
Sit-ins
Four African American college students in Greensboro, North Carolina sat at the whites only counter. The students sat there for the whole day until the store closed. The next day, more students joined the sit-in, more following the next. The students would not move until they were served, arrested, or dragged away. This act inspired the black youth across the nation. This hurt business owners. They had no choice unless they did not want any customers to allow the African Americans to sit there. -

Bomb inside the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church explodes killing 4 young black girls. -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
Civil Rights Act outlawed segregation facilities and discrimination on employment based on race, religion, or gender. -
March in Selma, Alabama

Dr. King was shot by James Earl Ray who was arrested and convicted for his murder
