    Autherine Lucy and University of Alabama
    After a long length legal battle, Autherine Lucy was the first African American student to attent the University of Alabama, however on Febuary 1st 1956 she was denied entry into the school, as the school wouldn't provide enough protection from the angry mobs. Autherine was expelled when she, and her attorneys accused the University of conspiring with the mob.

    In early May 1961 a team of African Americans and white volunteers boarded several southbound interstate buses. The buses were met with an angry white mob in Anniston, Birmingham, and Montgomery. The mobs slashed tires, threw rocks, and even one bus was fire bombed, luckily no one was hurt.
