    Brown v Board of Education
    Schools were being segregated and whites were getting better conditions than blacks and this was a violation of the 14th amendmet and everyone was not equal. The Court case made a big impact on the Civil rights movement because this took segregration from schools.
  • Change of GA state flag

    Change of GA state flag
    The Georgia state flag was changed in 1956 due to the leaders did not want everyone to be equal and so they added the confederate flag to the state flag.

    Student Nonviolent Coordinationg Comitte was a group of high school students who participated in nonviolent protests regarding segregation. They participated inn sit ins and freedom rides.

    A nonviolent protest where the SNCC trespassed in an all whites area to try and get voting rights.. The nonviolent group tested these techniques in albany so they would get arerssted then get let ut the next day.

    CIvil rights act
    The Civil rights act ended racial segregation in jobs and schools. Also public places like resturants, water fountains, and bathrooms were open to all races. Black men were allowed to have the same opertunity as other white men.

    Maynard Jackson was elected in 1974 and served 2 consecutive tearms up until 1982. He was the first black mayor in a major GA city.
