freedom riders
a group of 13 black and white bus riders, joined on a couple buses, traveled through the south to protest segregation on the buses. -
Integration of Ole Miss
Riots erupted on the University of Mississippi, where they were disagreeing with the enrollment of James Meredith. Two people were killed during the chaos. -

1967 race riots
A violent urban uprising in Detriot, Michigan. The police and military were involed, and 43 people were killed, 1000 peopleinjured, and almost 7,200 arrested. The riot lasted five days.
