  • Missouri Compromise

    The state of Missouri wanted slaves and others didn't. So Congress made the bill that Missouri was granted slavery but slavery would be prohibited in the rest of the Louisiana Purchase. along the Southern border of Missouri.
  • Fugitive Slave Law

    This law was passed by Congress and allowed for southern states who allowed slavery to have much much more power against the slaves. If slaves ran away to a free state, southerners could actually use weapons to get back their property. This law allowed as said before for a lot of states to have much power over the workers on the plantations.
  • Dredd Scott Supreme Court Decision

    This event was perhaps the most thought about question of the time which was if slave owners had the right to take slaves into Western territories. Which caused violence among the people because of the agruments that the case created. Eventually the Supreme Court decided that wherever Scott went he was still his owner's property due to the fact that under the Constitution Blacks were not qualified as people but as property and people can't just take others property away from them.

    Presidential Candidate Abraham Lincoln Beat three other candidates to become president. the three men were John C Breckinridge, Stephan A Douglas and John Bell, Abraham was against slavery and do to this put an end to slavery.

    Abraham Lincoln

    Abraham Lincoln was a presidential candidate who eventually won the election and became President. Without him slavery might have never been abolished. Due to the Emancipation Proclamation he received a lot of hate but he never wavered from his position. He led America through one of the worse wars in history and because of his decision during the war slavery was abolished for good.
  • Battle of Antietam

    Battle fought during the Civil War in Maryland and Antietam Creek as part of a Maryland Campaign. The Campaign was led by George Mclellan he led his troops into battle fearlessly. Mclellan showed the Confederate army that they would not stand down.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    An executive order given by President Abraham Lincoln that changed the legal status of over three million slaves from slave to free. Due to this all of the slaves got to go home finally and be with their families in peace. Abraham changed the history of America forever when he gave the order.

    Battle of Gettysburg

    Battle of the Civil War thought to be the turning point of the war itself the Union defeated the Confederates during this battle. This battle was perhaps one of the bloodiest battles of the war. The Union victory that came from this battle gave the soldiers a much needed morale boost and do to this the Union won the war.
  • Compromise of 1850

    Senator Henry S clay came up with a series of resolutions to avoid conflict between the North and the South. The resolutions stated that the Fugitive Slave Act would be amended and slavery in Washington D.C. would be abolished. But as mentioned before ya sure slavery was abolished in Washington but because the Fugitive Slave Act was amended it made it easier for people to recover slaves.
  • The Kansas-Nebraska Act

    This Act allowed the States of Nebraska and Kansas to decide for themselves if they wanted slavery or not. Which caused a lot of people to think about what they wanted. This act allowed them to think for themselves and decide what was best for their state.
  • Raid on Harper's Ferry

    John Brown and a group of Supporters hoped to take over Harpers Ferry. Due to the surprise attack they managed to take some of the citizens hostage and take over an armory. They held out well but eventually US Marines led by Robert E Lee killed most of the supporters putting an end to the attack. Brown hoped that local slaves would join him during his attack to show that they were not afraid of the south.
