    The fist slave code was originally created in vVirginia and stated that all persons, except blacks, were required to have a weapon.
  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    All states north of Missouri were free states. States south of Missouri were slave states. This compromise was a temporary fix for the conflict of slavery between the North and South.
  • Nat Turner's Rebellion

    Nat Turner's Rebellion
    Nat Turner led a rebellion in Virginia against slavery. Around 85 people died and Turner was hanged
  • Slave Codes

    The last slave code created was made by Alabama and stated that slaves who tried to learn to write would recieve a severe punishment.

    California became a Union state. New Mexico would not be a part of Texas. Utah and New Mexico could decide by popular soverignty, whether or not to be a slave state

    Kansas-Nebraska Act
    The territories of Kansas and Nebraska were created and canceled the peace created by the Missoui Compromise. It also led to the creation of the Republican Party.
  • Dred Scott Case

    Dred Scott Case
    Dred Scott filed a lawsuit because he travelled to the free states with his owner but was later returned to the slave state.

    Abe Lincoln was elected as the16th president of the United States. The Union alone was the reason Lincoln won.
