    Robert E. Lee took his troops into Maryland to fight George McClellan but Lee's troops were very tired and worn out. There were over 15,000 causalities in 8 hours. The union claimed victory after a long fought battle and there were about 23,000 troops dead at the end of the battle.

    This battle was fought in Kentucky. This was a very close battle but the confederates came out on top and won. Even though they won they still took a big hit 4,200 causalities to 23,000 union causalities .

    This was the largest concentration of any troops in the civil war . Robert E Lee brought his men into Virginia and turned back the union. This was a huge defeat for the union as their morale took a hit. About 13,000 union troops died during this battle.

    Union forces waged to attack the confederates in Mississippi and came out on top with the win. Union general Ulysses Grant proved he was too much for the south and this battle divided the confederates. The north captured 6,000 confederate soldiers.

    Robert E Lee marched his troops into northern Pennsylvania and this battle lasted 3 days. The second day of the battle, the union stood strong caused some horror for Lee and his men. The third day the battle lasted 7 hours and the Union came out on top with the win. This was the turning point during the war as there were 28,000 confederate causalities to 23,000 union causalities.
  • Chancellorsville

    This was Robert E Lee's greatest victory in the war. This was fought on Lee's home turf in Virginia. The confederates were to much for the union and it ended in a huge victory for the south. About 17,278 causalities for the union and 12,826 for the confederates.

    Again General Lee fought on his home turn in Virginia but he had a hard time fighting against the union general Grant. This battle lasted multiple days as both sides never gave up. Because there were 17,500 causalities over 2 days of fighting it caused General Lee to retreat back. This was a long fought win for the Union.

    Union General Williams marched 60,000 soldiers from Atlanta to Savannah. This battle was to scare the Georgia civilians so they can turn on the confederates. General Williams captured Atlanta during this victory and it was a huge loss for the south because Atlanta was the center of the railroad hub in the south. There were 652 confederate troops that died to 62 union troops.

    General Robert E Lee surrendered his men to the union General Grant. Lee also abandoned the city of Richmond and this battle was the end of the 4 year civil war. There were 596,670 union soldiers and 490,309 confederate soldiers that died during this war.
