    In Prince William County, Virginia, near the City of Manassas. The Union attacked the confederates and won. This was the first major land battle of the Civil War.

    This battle was fought in Sharpsburg, Maryland. It forced the Confederate Army to retreat back over the Potomac River. The generals for this battle were McClellan for the Union and Lee for the confederates. Shortly after this, Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclomation.
