    On this day Texas became the 7th state to secede from the Union. It was the civil vote in which the state became confederate state. The governer Sam Houston was in charge but did not want Texas to secede from the Union. After the state seceded Texas became a site for some very important battles.

It stayed this way for a long time before shots finally broke out leading to a southern victory and no casualties.This also caused an outrage in the north. The southern attacking the north was the start of a major war that lasted in thousands of casualties.

    The second battle of galveston was a sea and land battle. It started when maj. gen. John B. Magruder attacked union troops within the city. The union troops were on duty and the confederates attacked without warning. It ended up in a confederate victory.

    The battle lasted three days and was one of the bloodiest battles in the civil war. It was a battle in the union controlled territory in pennsylvania and was the costliest battle but not the biggest. The battle was so costly that president Lincoln wrote a speach about it. It was a union victory but nothing to celebrate about because of the many casualties.

    The first battle of Sabine Pass was the Unions taking control of the pass to go in and out the river. They lost no men. It was a a Union victory.The second battle of Sabine Pass was a battle in which the Union crossed into the confederate state of Texas. The result was confederate victory. The union soldiers were decimated by the confederate soldiers. In the battle the union lost 200 soldiers and 2 gunboats and the confederate lost nothing.

    The battle lasted through May 22. The unions task was to confiscate as much as 100000 bales of cotton from plantations along the red river. There were to battles along the red river, the battle of mansfield and the battle of Pleasant Hill. The result was a confederate victory.

    The civil war ended when a treaty was signed by Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant. The war was finally over with a total number of deaths ranging in at 1,264,000 american soldiers.IT was a Union victory but the intire United States were shocked at how many brothers were killed, wives left as widows, and brothers killing each other on american soil. It was the worst war any country could imagine and it was one of the costliest. But it was finally the end and the bloodshed had finally stopped.

The confederates had only 3 captured. One of the union troops private John J. Williams of the 34th indiana was believed to be the last death of the civil war.

    Juneteenth is otherwise know as emacipation day. its significance is that it was the day the emancipation proclamation was signed outlawing slavery in the United States. It was a major event because every slave that was oe=wned was set free and was allowed to live a free life. When all the slaves were set free they were allowed to become an american citizen and were allowed to vote.

    The reconstruction era was a period of time that took 14 years 2 months and 30 days to finish. It was the time when the south took to rebui;d the south after the civil war. There was two senses. The first was the history of the country from 1865 to 1877 and the other was the transformation of the South throughout 1865 and 1877.
