  • Missouri Compromise

    The Missouri Compromise were measures passed by the U.S. Congress to end the first of a series of crises concerning the extension of slavery.
  • Abraham Lincoln elected as president.

    On November 6, 1860, Abraham Lincoln was elected as predident of the United States. He also becomes the president of the Union. Many people belive he caused the civil war because shortly after his election, the South Scedes from the Union.
  • South Secedes

    In 1860, the South was technically formed. The first state to secede was South Carolia creating the Confederate States of America.
  • Battle of Fort Sumter

    The Battle of Fort Sumpter occurs in Charlston South Carolina. This was the official start of the Civil War with the South Victory
  • First Battle of Bull Run

    The battle of Bull Run was the first major battle of the Civil War. This was another confederate victory. This was in Manassas VIrginia.
  • Battle Of Shiloh

    This was a very deadly battle that occured in Tennasse. This battle was a very deadly battle that killed over 22,000 soldiers. This 2 day battle was the deadliest battle at its time.
  • Second Battle of Bull Run

    The Second Battle of Bull Run was a large battle that killed 22,000 soldiers from both sides of the war. This was a bigger battle than the first Battle of Bull Run. It was a Confederate Victory that killed many Union Soldiers
  • Battle Of Antietam

    This was the bloodiest day in the CIvil War and maybe one of the bloodiest days in American History. This was an important Union Victory that halted Lee's invasion of a northern state.
  • Emancipation Proclamation signed

    On the first day of 1863, Licoln signs the Emancipation Proclamation. This frees all the slaves captured by the Union captured by the Union Army.
  • Battle of Chancellorsville

    In the battle of Chancellorsville, the Confederacy defeated the Union. There were about 30,000 casualties in the battle. This battle is where Stonewall Jackson was fatally shot and died of pneunomia due to his injury.
  • The Battle of Vicksburg

    The battle of Vicksburg was a Union victory that gave the Union control of the Mississippi River. This battle had about 5,000 casualties for the Union and 32,000 casulaties for the Confederacy.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    On this day in a small town of Gettysburg, the bloodiest battle of the war occurs. There were over 50,000 casualties in the battle of Gettysburg. The 2 strongest generals clashed in the battlefield in the turning point of the war. After this battle, the Union starts winning muliple battles.
  • Battle of Atlanta

    This battle was fought to neutralize supply lines and then burnt down the city where the battle took place. This was the last batle before Sherman's March To Sea because he went straight from here and began his famous campaign.
  • March to Sea

    Sherman, with 62,000 men begins a March to the Sea. This is the 3rd step of the Anaconda plan.
  • Battle of Franklin.

    The battle of Frankin was a Confederate slaughter. There were 7,000 Confederates killed while there while only 2,000 were Union soldiers. This town, 20 miles away from Nashville was home to a bloody battle.
  • Battle Of Nashville

    The battle of Nashville was the last major battle in the Western Theater and a major victory for the Union. This was the most amount of African Americans fighting in one battle of the Civil War. The date listed was when the battle began.
  • 13th Amendment SIgned

    On this date, the 13th amendment was signed. This released all the slaves in the country, making all people free. However, there would unfortunately be segregation
  • Appomattox Courthouse

    The Battle of Appomattox Courthouse was the battle that set the stage for the end of the war. Lee surrendered to the Union in this battle. The war ended the next day
  • THE WAR ENDS!!!

    On April 9, 1865, the Confederacy surrenders in Appomattox Courthouse to te Union. The official contract is signed ending the bloodiest war in American History
  • Lincoln Assassinated

    Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, 1865. He was watching a play in a theater before being shot by John WIlkes Booth. This was 5 days after the war ended, his rage being caused by the South loosing the war.
