    Rebellion in which Nat Turner led a group of slaves through Virginia.It was an unsuccessful attempt to overthrow and kill the plantation families. This made whites fear such rebellions sense it killed many whites. Also 70 slaves, & 55 whites killed, Turner caught, he was executed & hundreds of slaves were punished. Frightened South; Tightened slave laws. It restricted freedom for all blacks in South; South began to aggressively defend slavery as "positive good"

    This Caning of Charles Sumner occurred due to Charles Sumner down talking South Carolina and a Representative from South Carolina was there Preston Brooks and beat him with a cane. This was an important event because this meant that even politicians were getting violent.
