    August 29, 1949, The USSR successfully detonate the first atomic bomb. The code name that they used was “First Lightning”. When they tested the effect of the blast of the bomb the Soviet Scientists constructed buildings, bridges, and other civilian structures. They would also put human like mammals in cages nearby so that they could test it on them as well.

    Description: October 4 1957, world's first artificial satellite, 22.8 inches in diameter, 183.9 pounds and took about 98 minutes to orbit around the Earth. In 1952 the International Council of Scientific Unions decided to establish the dates July 1st, 1957 through December 31st, 1958 as the International Geophysical Year, the scientist knew that the cycles of solar activity would be high at that point. July 1955 the White House announced their plans to launching Sputnik.

Although it was a race the US and the SU had to make sure they were safe and didn't not succeed in what they were trying to do. The competition of the technology was an aspect the US and the SU were fighting about to make themselves more powerful to spread their ways

    The Berlin Wall was built between the east and the west with barbed wire and concrete which kept people from freely leaving East Berlin. East Berlin and the Soviet Union wanted to keep the communist from leaving, and they did so by the wall and guards who shot anyone who attempted to leave. The Berlin wall was built during the Cold war to separate the two different ideas. Separating the two ideas was a compromise to fighting for communism, the separation kept the fighting down.

    When Israel became independent, Jordan, Egypt, and Syria attacked Israel and the US helped Syria out, and within 6 days the cease fire agreement was signed. Israel also gained land from Jordan, Egypt, and Syria in the end. The Soviet Union took the Arabia side, while the US took the Israel side. There was tension because of the Cold War going on and the U.S. and the S.U. were already arguing; it was a fight for their side to win.

    October 25th, 1983 is when the US invaded Grenada by president Ronald Reagan’s orders. There was nearly 1,000 Americans already in Grenada when the invasion was ordered but that was only because they were there for that island’s medical school. The US overcame the Grenada government in a short period of time This had been a rising problem since 1979 and finally the government got too dangerous when they started having relations with Cuba and when Bernard Coard had the Bishop assassinated.
