VE Day is the quick way to say Victory in Europe. The day was celebrated for the mark of the war in Europe for ending. All around Europe, German troops laid down there weapons. Millions of German Troops try to leave but failed and captured by Russians. -
The Red Scare
During the late 40's and early 50's US citizen was terrified of the perceived threat from Communists during this time, it become to be known as the red Scare. It peak at this time do to Communist symmetrically found power during this time too. With successful nuclear bomb test from the Communist, start of Korean War, and Mao Zedong taking control of China. Bay of pigs invasion
The failed attack on the Cuban army from the US. The US was trying to take down the Cuban dictator, Fidel Castro. They sent 1,400 American-Cuban soldiers to attack. The first plan of action was to strike the air field that the Cuban government had so they couldn't resist the invaders but, Castro found word of the plan and moved the aircraft's to new location. Furthermore, a series of bad events caused for this mission to fail horribly. -
The Cuban missile crisis
Documented as the Cold War getting hotter, the Soviet Union placed nuclear missile lunch site in Cuba. If you look at the Geographical warfare you could see this was a directly aimed at America. With America having nuclear missile sites in turkey and Soviet's have them Cuba things was in a M.A.D. state. To avert getting into such a war setting, current president at the time, JFK made a Navel blockade around Cuba and demanded that Soviet remove the missiles. A few tense days later they complied. -
Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty
Representatives from Soviet Union, Great Britain, and the US signed the Limited Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, which denied the testing of Nuclear weapons in outer-space,underwater, or in atmosphere. This was noted as the first step toward control nuclear weapons. -
Space Race
The space was a battle between US and the Soviet Union to get a Men of the plant. The Soviets was first successful at on that idea but America didn't accept defeat and placed a men on the moon, with Apollo 11. -
The Berlin Wall is Destroyed
The Berlin wall it self was the painting and the story of the capitalistic world wall vs. the communistic world. It give the world the perfect side by side comparison of the lack of independence East Berlin,Communistic world, had to that of West Berlin, Capitalistic world. The fall of the wall meant different things to different people but shared a conman theme of independence.
