    the migration had dealt with the african americans over 5 mill left from up north to the south and southwest. they left due to similarities of the first migration but mostly for the jobs that continued to open up. the states offered skilled jobs in the defense industry. after the war mass production was needed. america had become a highly urbanized population
  • G.I. BILL (servicemen adjustment act of 1944)

    it gave servicemen chances to go to colleges and trade schools, or buy houses or businesses. because servicemen were going to trade schools it help advance technology. because lots of servicemen used the money to buy houses to start families making mass production on houses in urban areas.

    the popularity of rock & roll resulted in a powerful impact on society. when jazz,blues and country was combined it created rock n roll Elvis Presley was one influencing young adults to be independent making some kids disobedient to their parents

    many of the central changes in our society after ww2 wouldnt have been possible if AC was not keeping homes & work places cold.
    - everyone wanted AC down at the sun belt, so when it was exploding around 1950s cars, homes, and businesses had people migrating down south where its very hot.
  • polio vaccine by dr. jonas salk

    jonas salk developed the first effective polio vaccine in 1952. his vaccine was tested in the francis field trial. when it began it involved approximately 4,000 children, but would grow to eventually involve around 1.7 mill children across 44 states. it was the largest medical experiment at the time. in april of 1955 the vaccine so he didnt make any money but instead made it easily accesable and distributed nationwide
  • Pres. Kennedy's "moon" speech

    "we choose to go to the moon" speech, was delivered by JFK. it was one of kennedys earlier speeches meant to persuade the American People to support the National Effort to land a man to the moon an return him safely the earth. to help begin the "space race" against USSR during the cold war

    - baby boomer had a major impact on buying habits of americans & contribute about 77% of the wealth accumulated in america. baby boomers will be retiring & this will drain social security & cause future retires from other generations

    the apollo 11 mission was arguably the most significant event during the space race between US and soviet union, it was significant because buzz aldrin & neil armstrong were the 1st people to step foot on a whole other world & help secure the win of the space race for the US
  • friendship 7

    the friendship 7 is a capsule that john glenn went to space in, and he was the first american to orbit the earth. it led to mercury into earth orbit and enable glenn to circle earth 3 times john glenn is responsible for more students studying math and science and being interrested in space than anyone
