  • Yalta Confrence

    The Yalta Conference was a meeting of British prime minister Winston Churchill, Soviet premier Joseph Stalin, and President Franklin D. Roosevelt early in February 1945 as World War II was winding down.

  • NATO

    North Atlantic Treaty Organization is estlablished. NATO was the first peacetime military alliance the United States entered into outside of the Western Hemisphere. After the destruction of the Second World War, the nations of Europe struggled to rebuild their economies and ensure their security.

  • First man made satalite

    In October of 1957 the Soviets launced the first man made satalite into space.

  • Castro & Cuba

    Fidel Castro becomes premier of Cuba, installs Communist government.

  • Missle Crisis.

    Confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union over Soviet ballistic missiles deployed in Cuba. It played out on television worldwide and was the closest the Cold War came to escalating into a full-scale nuclear war.[1]
