    The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was formed as a military alliance opposed to Soviet expansion. Original member states included the US, Canada, the UK, France, Italy, and other nations.
  • Hollywood 10 is released

    A group of 10 Hollywood producers make a short film against McCarthyism. Nine of the ten of the producers were blacklisted by Hollywood due to 'un-american activities'
