The Americans watched and were in fear by how far ahead the Soviets had gotten. This was during the "Space Age". This satellite traveled around Earth in an hour and 36 minutes going 18,000 miles an hour. This was significant to the Cold War becasue this created more tension. between the Soviets and the Americans.

    This war was also called the June War or the Third Arab-Israeli War. It took place in June 1967, from the 5th to the 10th. Isreal ending up capturing the Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, West Bankmm Old City of Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights.

    Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty (SALT)
    SALT had started in 1969 and ended in 1976. The Soviet Union had been creating an Anti-Ballistic Missle and President Lyndon Johnson had announced it. With the ABM system, one side could laugh the missle and the seond side would not be able to retaliate. Johnson then called the SALT together and the Soviet Premier Alexei Kosygin met in New Jersey. In 1979, the leftist Maurice Bishop seized power and began to have a close relationship with Cuba. Fearing that the Americans in Grenada would be armed, Reagen sent 2,000 American troops to Grenada.
