The soviets established a communist government in the north, in the south the US did not support a communist regime and didnt support it. The united states supported the south koreas in fighting against north korea because tthe US wanted to prevent spread communism

    After hungary opens its border with austria thousands of east germans traveled through hungary to make it back to the west. POwerless to stop them from leaving the east german government opened the gates of the berlin wall, cititizen destroyed the wall completely in celebration. Germany was now unified again and the soviets lose their last influence on europe. The cold war ends.

    revolution quickly spread through eastern Europe as citizens rose up and overthrew their soviet-backed leaders. Lithuania was the first to declare freedom, followed by other soviet controlled regions like poland and czechoslovakia. Soviet leader gorbachev was no longer willing to keep control of eastern europe and didn't interfere.
