Churchill speach
British leader Winston Churchill gave a speech in the U.S. with an image of an "iron curtain" to describe the sharp division of Europe that was the result of soviet actions. He stated that the division was a serious threat to peace. He also said that "Our difficulties and dangers will not be removed by closing our eyes to them. They will not be removed by mere waiting to see what happens; nor will they be removed by a policy of appeasement." -
The Marshall Plan
In the year of 1947 U.S. secretary of state George Marshall created the Marshall Plan which was created to rebuild Europe after its destruction from war. Marshall provided $13 billion to their damage .He claimed that our policy was not directed against any country or doctrine but against hunger, poverty, desperation and chaos. -
Berlin Blockade
soviets blocked off all land, rail, and water routes into west Berlin. Berlin's 2 million residents were no longer able to import food, coal, and other major supplies. Soviets hoped this would force the west to leave. -

Less then a year before soviets came up with the atomic bomb but was out lived because of the U.S. technology. These inventions led to whole new military tactics. -

U.S. government trying to over go Castro, secretly trained an invasion with approximately 1500 Cubans who fled Castro's regime. In April 1961 the trained Cubans came ashore to Cuba's bay of pigs. -
