    House of Un-American Activities Committee
    a committee made to investigate disloyal and questionable organization's. They started to search into move star's during the cold war trying to find out if they were communist or not, trying to display communist propaganda in movies.
  • GI Bill

    GI Bill
    This was a law that provided returning World War 2 with a wide range of benefits such as low-cost mortgages, cash payment of tuition. This made returning soldiers have a easier time raiser a family, and part of the cause of the Baby Boom and the development of Levittown.
  • Truman Doctrine

    this was made to prevent communist aid and promote capitalism. This was the U.S. trying to make the economic idea of capitalism look better the the Communist Soviets
  • Marshall Plan

    this was the U.S. sending Aid to Europe and China in hopes of swaying the countries into being Capitalist and to rebuild the war torn nations.
  • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift
    The Soviet Union had blocked railways, roads, water ways, in hopes of gaining control of Berlin. The U.S. and U.K airdropped supplies into Berlin to keep their sections of Berlin.
  • NATO

    This was an defensive alliance between Capitalist Countries, causing the Soviet Union to make the Warsaw Pact.
  • Korean War

    North Korea invaded South Korea attempting to take it over only to be pushed back until they received help from China and 38th parallel armistice was signed. This was real fighting over the ideas of Capitalism and Communism, each being backed by larger powers, U.S.S.R., China, U.S.
  • Brinkmanship

    pushing to the edge of war in the hopes of the enemy backing down. The U.S. tried this with the U.S.S.R., all though it worked it also increased tensions between the countries
  • Warsaw Pact

    This was an alliance that was a response to NATO, bring the Soviet Union and seven other Soviet controlled or Communist countries. This further divided the world into either Communism or Capitalist.
  • Interstate Highway System

    The purpose for the highways were to be able to quick move troops around the U.S. in cause of war with the U.S.S.R.
  • Eisenhower Doctrine

    This was the U.S. pledge that they should defend nations that are against Communism. Trying to prevent another event like the Hungarian Revolt
  • Sputnik

    Was the first Satellite sent into space by the Soviet Union. We are embarrassed that we didn't do it first. We start to push science and math in school more.
  • U-2 Incident

    U-2 Incident
    American Spy plane is shot down over the Soviet Union, they have the plane and the pilot. The U.S. doesn't admit that this was them, creates more tensions and makes U.S. look bad.
  • Bay of Pigs Invasion

    The U.S trains and equips Cuba exiles to invade Cuba and overthrow Castro. This fails and makes the United States look really bad, JFK knowing little to nothing about it takes the blame.

    The Soviet Union made a wall in hopes of keeping anymore people from escaping into east Berlin. It became a symbol of Communism and took 28 before it's destruction.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    This was the highest point of tensions in the cold war. The U.S.S.R. had established missiles in Cuba, and caused great tensions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, until the Soviet took the missiles out of Cuba.
  • Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty

    The Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty regulated the testing of Nuclear weapons in the atmosphere, underwater, and outer space. This was the first step in the world trying to become less Nuclear.
