    The Truman Doctrine was a pledge to provide economic and military aid. This was to oppose the spread of communism.

    Marshall Plan
    President Truman signed the Economic Recovery Act. This act was named after George Marshall, secretary of state. Marshall had proposed back in 1947 that the United States provide economic help postwar Europe.
  • Soviets Block off all routes into West Berlin

    Soviets Block off all routes into West Berlin
    Soviets had blocked off all routes into the West Berlin. They blocked off land, rail and water routes.
  • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift
    The soviets blocked land, rail, and water routes into West Berlin. This caused the Berlin Airlift which had Berlin be supplied by air.

    North Atlantic Treaty Organization, also known as NATO. NATO was created to counter the soviet power in Europe.

    The soviets called off the Blockade. After the Berlin Airlift, the soviets realized they just needed to call it off.
