    Yalta Conference
    The Yalta Conference was a meeting between Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin. This event was significant because it provided the major fighters in the war a plan to win. Although it was in World War ll, it contributed to the Cold War because it ended World War ll, which led to the Cold War.

    Ho Chi Minh was the first president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. He contributed to the Cold War by causing a lot of tension for the U.S. during the Vietnam War.

    The Berlin Blockade and Airlift both increased and decreased tension during the Cold War. This is because when the blockade was up, people in it and in the U.S. were scared because the USSR had formed the blockade around U.S. controlled areas in Berlin, and could have gained control over it. However the Airlift decreased tension because it provided relief for the people and eventually the blockade was lifted.

    The Korean War started when North Korea invaded South Korea, with the US aiding South Korea, and China aiding North Korea. This event caused a lot of tension during the Cold War. This is because the war strengthened the fight for and against Communism.

    Eisenhower was important during the Cold War. He was one of the main oppositions of the Soviet Union and kept the country stable during the beginning of the time, and many following presidents did things the way he did.

    The Hungary Rebellions were when students began to protest the Soviet-controlled government of Hungary. This event was significant because it showed rebellions against the Soviet Union. This event caused tension for the USSR during the Cold War because it showed major rebellions against them, which meant they were not as feared.

    The U-2 Spy Plane Incident
    The U-2 spy plane incident occurred when a spy plane piloted by Gary Powers was shot down by the USSR. This was because Powers was flying over the USSR to analyze their military. This incident caused tension during the Cold War because the US and USSR had less trust between each other and raised more issues between the two.

    The Berlin Wall started to be built in 1961 in West Berlin. The construction of the wall caused tension for the USSR during the Cold War. This is because it showed how many people who lived in Berlin did not like living in the Communist system.

    The Bay of Pigs invasion was when the US attempted to invade Cuba with Cuban American-trained troops. This event was significant because it led to the Cuban Missile Crisis. This event caused tension for the US during the Cold War because Cuba realized that the US is not as strong as thought.

    Ronald Reagan decreased tension during the Cold War by finishing what Eisenhower started. He eased tensions with the Soviets with deals like the INF treaty, and made things easier for the upcoming presidents.

    Gorbachev served as the former general secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. He contributed to the Cold War by somewhat decreasing tension between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, such as signing the INF treaty with Reagan.
