    Columbus encountered the New World for the first time

    Columbus sailed to find India,but encountered a group of people that he thought were Indians. The people on the island that Columbus landed on were the people of the Arawak tribe.

    Jacque Cartier sailed the St. Lawrence

    explored the North American lands for riches and to find the Northwest passage to Asia, he found the native village of Hochelaga.

    Hernando de Soto’s expedition of the Southeast

    De Soto stops in Cuba to help the town of Havana recover since the French had attacked them. Enslaved natives while and fought along the way after landing in Tamps Bay and staying for three years to explore the southeastern United States, this marks the first European explorer to travel along the Mississippi River.

    Coronado's expedition from Mexico to Kansas

    Coronado set out to find wealth, but his efforts were for nothing as he did not find any wealth at all. Due to the fact that he did not find any wealth and he wasnted to see his wife he decided to order the army of Mexico to return.

    Spanish establish St. Augustine, Florida

    Pedro menendez landed and started to build over a native american village, this was called the Castillo de San Marcos. The Castillo was built as a mean of protection to the Spanish.

    They built a fort and planted crops while also looking for gold, they also attracted settlers who would invest in the colony.
  • Juan de Onate founded Santa Fe

    he was an explorer and the governor of the santa fe province in the territory of Spain.
  • Jamestown, Virginia founded

    They picked Jamestown as their place to live after naming it in the name of their king James I.The shore line was perfect for the English to tie their ships to the shoreline.
  • Samuel de Champlain founded Quebec

    Samuel found Quebec and it eventually became a main place of trade for French fur trading. Champlain had gotten into a war with the Iroquois, which would be carried on for over a century.
  • French began fur trade with Indians

    This trade started when Champlain established Quebec and it eventually became the main trading post for French fur traders.
  • John Rolfe introduced tobacco to Virginia

    Rolfe experimented with tobacco, which had been controlled by the European market by the Spanish.
  • First African slaves arrived in Virginia

    Dutch ships came in carrying twenty or so Africans, they also traded the Africans for food. Most of the Africans were seen as a sevant rather than a slave.
  • Plymouth, Massachusetts founded

    The pilgrims came over and founded the town of Plymouth they wrote and signed a compact so that they would make laws in Plymouth.

    The Mohawk tribe ran out of beavers to kill and get their hide to trade with the Europeans so they went and in and invaded the American tribes land to find more.

    king Charles ll landed on the island and eventually the constitutions of Carolina were wrote by a man named John Locke.

    Marquette and Joliet sailed through many different lakes and met many native people along their way down the Mississippi. They learned of the animals that the natives hunted and the types of crops that they grew.

    an uprising between the of the Pueblo people against the Spanish that were in the Santa Fe province in what we know today as New Mexico.
  • Pennsylvania Colony founded

    This land was founded for religoious freedom and trading. They grew many crops for trading and s that they would have food.
  • Georgia Colony founded

    They made it where there was no slavery or people of Georgia could not own large areas of land. They would work for themselves and farm many crops.
