    The common schools advocated for equality. Giving all children an apportunity to learn. Espcially those from poor families. Free school accessible for everyone. When education was seen to be neccesary, the government began to fund school through direct taxation for the support for common schools. Leaders of business and industry supported this cause. This is the begining of public schools.
