    Intel had been founded by Gordon Moore and Robert Noyce in 1968.
  • First Microprocessor, Intel 4004

    First Microprocessor, Intel 4004
    The first microprocessor had been created by Intel and Ted Hoff.
    It was named Intel 4004, and had 2300 transistors, 640 bytes of memory and was able to accomplish 60000 operations per second, all at the cost of $200.
  • Intel 8008

    Intel 8008
    Also known as the '1201', it is the second microprocessor released by Intel in the early 70s. It had 3500 transistors, speeds between 500 and 800 kHz with an 8 bit architecture able to access 16 kb of ram or more. These specifications were useful for microcomputers, bottling machines dumb terminals and calculators.

    Intel 8080
    This is a more improved version of the 8008, being able to access 64 KB, 2 MHz clock speeds and had an 8 bit architecture, making it 10 times faster than the 8008. It was first used by Altair computers which were the first personal computers around the globe.
  • Intel 8085

    Intel 8085
    It is an 8 bit microprocessor which is a 'light' upgrade from the 8080, holding two extra instructions for the I/O and interrupt features. Because of its less circuity budget enthusiasts were able to build their first PC using this microprocessor.
    It had 6500 transistors, clock speeds of 3, 5 or 6 MHz and an address width of 16 bits.
  • Intel 8086

    The code name being P1, it can ran at clock speeds of 5 to 10 MHz, possessed 29000 and was used on a 16 bit architecture. In my opinion what made it special is the jump to 1 MB memory it could've access.
  • Intel 8088

    They were used by the IBM PC and XT personal computers. Like most of the time this is an upgrade from its predecessor, 8086 which is not available in speeds of 4.77 to 8 MHz, had 29000 transistors and used an 8 bit bus with a 16 bit internal architecture.
  • Intel 80286

    It is also referred to as 'Intel 286'. It had 134000 transistors, ran at clock speeds of 4 MHz and 12 MHz
  • Intel 80386

    Intel 80386
    Also known as 386 or i386, it is based on a 32-bit chip, has 275000 transistors and could perform five million instructions every second(MIPS). The clock speeds were varying between 12 and 40 MHz.
  • First Pentium Processor

    It was a big jump in the tech industry as it was able to perform at 6 MHz clock speed and possessed 3.1 million transistors. Unfortunately for budget consumers, it was sold for $878,
  • Second Generation of Pentium

    Also known as P54C, it was as an unnecessary (in my opinion) piece of hardware that was a slightly better replacement of the first Pentium. It had a clock rate of between 75 and 120 MHz, L1 cache of 16 KB and an FSB of 55-66 MHz.
  • Pentium Pro

    Pentium Pro
    Also known as the P6, it is the first processor that was able to run on an i686 architecture and use a die packaged with an L2 cache. It possessed 5.5 million transistors, had clock speeds between 150 and 200 MHz.
  • Intel Pentium II

    Also known as Klamath, it is approached a new physical model of architecture where a circuit board was implanted in a plastic case. The reason behind this was to offer more accessibility to the users when installing and removing the processor from the motherboard.
    The clock rate was between 233 and 450 MHz while possessing 7.5 million transistors and 256 KB L2 cache.

    Intel couldn't sell their Pentium II's because of their high price, AMD slowly taking over because their CPU's had a better Performance: Price ratio than Intel. Therefore they decided to create the Celeron which is Pentium II but with L1 cache instead of L2.
  • Pentium III

    Also known as P6 or Katmai, the Pentium III used to have 9.5 million transistors, no L1/L2 cache and a clock rate of 500 to 550 MHz.
    With a BIOS update, they were able to work on older models of Pentium II motherboards.

    It had a CPU clock speed of 1.3 GHz and 125 million transistors.
  • Intel Celeron

    Intel launches another Celeron CPU which is way better than its predecessor. It has a clock speed of 1.3 GHz, 100 MHz bus, 256 KB and L2 cache.
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E6320

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6320
    This is another CPU brand released by Intel. It has 2 cores and 2 threads at a clock speed of 1.86 GHz and a bus speed of 1066 MHz. It also has 4 MB of L2 cache.
  • Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

    Intel is taking a big step further and launch a CPU with 4 core and threads, 8 MB L2 cache, with a clock speed of 2.4 GHz and a bus speed of 1066 MHz. It also has 582 million transistors.

    i7-920
    Intel launched the first generation of one of the most popular CPU's which had been discontinued recently. It has 4 cores and 8 threads, a clock speed of 2.66 GHz going up to 2.93 GHz at max turbo boost. It also has 731 transistors and an 8 MB cache of Intel Smart Cache.

    It's the first i5 desktop CPU which had clock speeds of over 3.0 GHz, 4 MB of Intel Smart Cache, a bus speed of 2.5 GT/s and 382 million transistors.
