    1981
    IBM introduces the first personal computer featuring Intel. Code named "Acorn", The computer was developed by 12 engineers in IBM Boca Raton research and development center.

    Steve Jobs of Apple introduces the first Macintosh. It had a graphical user interface or GUI, which provided a visual representation for what was previously lines of DOS code.
  • 1985

    Intel introduces the 386 TM microprocessor which was a 32 bit-chip that brought "multi-tasking" capabilities to the PC.
  • 1987

    Toshiba introduces the T1000 laptop PC. It had battery power and made portable computing more widely available.
  • 1989

    1989
    David Levy, chess player, was beaten by a computer. Deep Thought was a computer designed to play chess. It was the second chess computer developed by Feng-hsiung Hsu.
